To ensure that a water heater continues to work at an optimum level, it is necessary to descale the appliance. This will mean removing the deposits that can build up from the use of hard water. Hard water is water that has high mineral content. Hard water is formed when water percolates through deposits of limestone, chalk or gypsum which are largely made up of calcium and magnesium carbonates, bicarbonates and sulfates. Directions: Add full content of package into 2 gallons of water using a plastic bucket. Using stirring device, mix the powder in water until completely dissolved. Shut off water supply to the water heater from the inlet and outlet valves and relieve pressure. Disconnect the water heater at the energy source. Disconnect inlet and outlet water valves. Use a recirculation pump to feed the cleaning solution into the water heater. Recirculate for 20 minutes or until the unit is clean. Clean inside of the heat exchanger only. Follow your service manual for specific cleaning instructions. After cleaning, dispose used cleaning chemicals in accordance with local regulations. With the energy source turned off, flush the water heater thoroughly for 10 minutes with cold water. Reconnect inlet and outlet water valves and turn water back on. Reconnect the water heater to the energy source.
